LOCATION:
Manzanillo is located in the Pacific Ocean at 104° 20' 30" West Longitude and 19° 01' 30" North latitude within the Mexican Republic. Type of water is salty.

NAVIGATION AREAS:
  • Access channel: 816.8 m long; 120.00 m width; 12.5 m depth.
  • Navigation Channel: 1,263.5 m long; 120.00 m width; 12.5 m depth.
  • Two turning basins: 460.00 m diameter each one; 12.5 m depth.
  • All pier maximum draft: 12.5 m and no LOA restriction
  • Eight berthing positions for this kind of cargo. Band A (pier 2 and 3, length is 450.00 mts both); Band B (piers 4, 5 & 6, overall length is 570.00mts); and Band C (piers 7, 8 & 9, overall length is 685.00 mts)
  • No air draft restriction at this port.
    All piers in Manzanillo are 3.5 Tons per Cubic Meter strength.
  • Also there is a very vast area for anchorage at the bay of Manzanillo.

PILOTAGE:
Available pilots 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The use of pilot is compulsory in all Mexican port.

TUG SERVICE:
Tug service available at 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. Use of two tugs when vessel's GRT is more than 7,500.00 is compulsory by "Operational Rules of the Port of Manzanillo". Only one tug will be used with ship under 7,500.00 GRT.

PORT WORKING NORMAL HOURS:
Port is working three shifts a day
1.   From 08.01 - 16.00 hrs
2.   From 16.01 - 24.00 hrs
3.   From 00.01 - 08.00 hrs
  (from Monday 08.01 to Sunday 08.00)

PORT WORKING OVERTIME HOURS:
Add 40% to the price of all manoeuvring when operations runs on:
1.   Sunday 08.01 to Monday 08.00 hrs
2.   Mexican Holidays ( January 1st, February 5th, March 1st, March 21st, September 16th, November 20th , December 1st 2000 (due to change of President) and December 25th.

PORT CONGESTION:
Not usual but will keep advised if any. To program all vessels for pier (9 berthing positions available) Port Administration has a meeting with all Ship Agents every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11.00 hrs L.T. It means that we are able to provide fresh information almost every day regarding port situation.

SERVICES TO VESSELS:
Available services at 24 hours are the following:
  • Purified and industrial water (by shoreline or by truck)
  • Mooring & unmooring companies
  • Ship chandlers
  • Bunkering oils and fuel (by barge or by shoreline)
  • Fumigation services (at anchor or at berth)
  • Inspection services
  • Water taxis for anchored vessel (also free practice at anchor)
  • Garbage and trash removal
  • Welding and Painting service
  • Overnight watchman available
  • Stevedore working 24 hours a day.
  • Transport to airport or bus station.
