In this Employee Spotlight, get to know Joseph D. Hurst, District Manager out of our Long Beach, California, office. Read below to learn about Joseph!

How long have you worked at Transmarine? Almost 11 years.

What’s something you enjoy about your job at Transmarine? I enjoy the diversity of the position I hold and love getting to work with various colleagues across our company and industry. Each day presents new challenges, and the collaboration required to problem-solve and deliver exceptional service is very important to my team and me.  

How would your Transmarine coworkers describe you? A jokester, first and foremost! I would also hope they would describe me as a good teacher, approachable, and knowledgeable.

Tell us about an exciting or interesting project you worked on at Transmarine? While I was District Manager of the Houston office, I worked to expand our operations by opening the Beaumont and Corpus Christi offices. It was an exciting project, and I was thrilled to see these two offices come to life.

How long have you worked in the industry? 30 years!

What is your professional background before you started work at Transmarine? I have been in the agency life since the beginning!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I love traveling the world with my wife, playing golf, and volunteering at a local dog rescue.

Anything else you’d like to share about your professional background or current role to be included in your employee spotlight? I’ve worked at the following ports in my tenure: New Orleans, Long Beach, San Francisco, Houston, Beaumont, and Corpus Christi. Transmarine has taken me all over the country!
