Members of Japanese Companies CZL LTD and ZEN-NOH Enjoy First-Hand Look at Portland Grain Elevators
Transmarine Navigation Corporation — a leading U.S. tramp agency with offices in a dozen port cities along the Gulf Coast, West Coast, recently hosted a PDX Elevate tour for several customers representing the Japanese companies CZL LTD and ZEN-NOH.
The tour offered these customers the opportunity to witness how grain elevators work from the ships’ perspective, see first-hand the differences of each terminal, and understand the general logistic challenges involved in loading grain commercially in the region. Additionally, they learned how snowpack can affect the operating draft and wheat barges coming from upriver and rail cars traveling from the Midwest.
“It was an honor to host these esteemed customers on the grain tour,” said Transmarine’s VP of Marketing – Dry Bulk, Mark Hanson, who skillfully led the tour. “It’s always exciting to give our clients an up-close-and-personal look at the variety of ways Transmarine works to serve their shipping needs.”
Transmarine’s Erickson Skinner and Ian Mantha also participated in the tour.
CZL LTD. leverages the grain procurement networks of CHS Inc. and JA ZEN-NOH to supply feed grain and food-grade wheat to the Japanese market. Its motto is “Safe, secure, and stable supply.”
