Members of Transmarine Navigation Corporation — a leading U.S. tramp ship agency with offices in a dozen port cities along the Gulf Coast, West Coast, and Hawaii — recently visited Northwest Maritime High School in Seattle, Washington, to tour the facility and participate in a “Vessel Day” hosted by students pursuing a career in the maritime industry.
Transmarine is a proud member of the Association of Ship Brokers & Agents, whose Educational Foundation recently donated funds to the school.
“It was thrilling to spend quality time with such an ambitious group of young people,” said Transmarine Managing Director Leslie Clements, who also sits on the ASBA’s Board of Directors. “We will always look for ways to support the ASBA Education Foundation’s efforts to strengthen the future of our industry.”
Clements, alongside Transmarine colleague Melissa King, joined a 9th grade class as they prepared to spend the morning on the MV Admiral Jack – a Passenger vessel – and looked on as students participated in onboarding prep and pre-departure checklist protocols before fielding a variety of questions from the class.
Later, Clements and King visited Vigor Shipyard, a fieldwork experience partner, to meet with 11th graders enrolled in the Welding pathway and participate in a lively Q&A session.
